SAS Nagar, February 09, 2025: In order to curb the offenders of illegal mining activities in district Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, the police have registered an FIR against unknown persons under Section 21 (1) and 4 (1) of the Mines and Minerals (Development Regulation) Act 1957 at Majri Police Station.
Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that the district has a zero tolerance policy for illegal mining activities. Anyone found involved in such activities will be dealt with strictly.
She said that on receiving information about the illegal mining site at Mianpur Changar yesterday, an administrative team led by SDM Kharar Gurmander Singh immediately reached the site to ascertain the facts and after confirming them, an FIR was immediately recommended against the culprits.
She informed that initially a heavy excavator machine has been recovered from near the site and the site is owned by private persons. He said that the Revenue Department has been asked to find out the ownership of the land so that further action can be taken.
Deputy Commissioner Jain said that the district police has been requested to conduct a time-bound investigation into the matter and arrest the accused behind this illegal mining soon.
