Nawanshahr - Red Cross Narsha Mukti Kendra, Dharamshala Bhucharan Saran, Railway Road, Nawanshahr planted a fruit tree at the railway station, Nawanshahr on the occasion of World Red Cross Day. The purpose of this event was to commemorate the founder of the Red Cross, Sir Jean Henri Deuna, along with avoiding environmental pollution by planting a fruit tree. The main objective of Red Cross is to serve humanity.

This week is being celebrated as World Red Cross Day. Speaking on this occasion, Project Director Chaman Singh said that World Red Cross Day is celebrated on May 8 every year. The Red Cross was founded in 1863 AD. Its founder is Henri Duna, a resident of Switzerland. He was born on 08 May 1828 AD at Geneva (Switzerland). Due to which the feeling of bringing the Red Cross organization to life appeared after seeing the wounded soldiers during the war in Solfarino (Italy). The main mission of the Red Cross is to help people injured in war or natural disasters. They shed light on the activities being carried out by the Red Cross in detail.
Finally, the Project Director thanked Mr. Shasikant Sharma (Railway Station Superintendent, Nawanshahr) for making this event a success. On this occasion, Ramesh Chand (Points Master NSR), Akashdeep (Points Master NSR), Satinder Kumar (RPF), Amarjit Singh (RPF), Gautma Devi and the staff of the center Jaswinder Kaur, Kamaljit Kaur, Dinesh Kumar, Baljit and Harsh Sahni were present.
