
Senior Citizens made their views in the meeting.
Nawanshahr:- The monthly meeting of Senior Citizens Association Nawanshahr was held at Deputy Commissioner Meeting Hall Nawanshahr under the patronage of Chairman Dr. JD Verma and the chairmanship of President Professor SK Baruta. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. JD Verma greeted all the members present on Independence Day and Shri Krishna Janmashtami. Professor Baruta informed about the activities of the meeting held last month.

While giving information about the agenda of today's meeting, General Secretary SK Puri said that the association will plant trees/shrubs on 18 August 2025 at 9:30 am at Doaba Arya School Rahon Road Nawanshahr and organize a blood donation camp on 21 August 2025 at 9:30 am at Blood Donors Council Rahon Road Nawanshahr. He said that every blood donor will be honored by the association with beautiful gifts.
SK Puri appealed to all the members to reach these projects on time. After this, the members whose birthday or wedding anniversary falls in the month of August were given flowers by the presidium and congratulated. For the entertainment of the members, member Jeevan Kumar Pathak sang a song of love for the country. Sukhdev Sharma read his composition on Rakhi and Krishna Janmashtami.
Lalit Ohri, Sarwan Ram and Santokh Singh Samundra and Sham Lal Bassi also entertained by reciting songs and jokes. Lakhvir Singh presented his views on the verses of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Member Bal Kishan recited the bhajan 'Kabhi Ram Ban Ke, Kabhi Sham Ban Ke, Prabhu Ji Chale Aana'. Member Aruna Sharma sang the song 'Kala Shah Kala'. Members Jagdish Singh and Mohan Lal Gautam recited poems by the renowned Punjabi poet Professor Mohan Singh.
Vasudev Pradesi, a renowned singer of the area, entertained the members by singing a song dedicated to the elders, 'Ghar to Sab de Sohne Hundi, Par Sohne Hundi Jiya Naal'. After this, everyone enjoyed the taste of Maal-Pura on Hariyali Teej. Finally, the chairman thanked all the members who attended the meeting. A large number of members were present on this occasion.
