Paigam-E-Jagat/Maur Mandi- As part of the "War Against Drugs" campaign launched by the Punjab government to make the state drug-free, DSP Maur Kuldeep Singh and Police Station Chief Tarundeep Singh froze the house of a drug smuggler in Maur Mandi and issued a notice to him.
Giving information, DSP Kuldeep Singh Brar said that Buta Singh, who was involved in the drug trade for a long time, has 6 cases registered against him in different police stations, regarding which the police inspected his property, which he had built with the proceeds of drugs. The police came to know that in the year 2018, he had purchased a house of 158 yards in the name of his wife Paramjit Kaur.
The police prepared a report in this regard and sent it to their higher authorities and the Delhi Crime Branch of the police had ordered the Maur police station to freeze the property built with the proceeds of drug trafficking of the smuggler under Section 18F of the NDPC Act. Following those orders, Inspector Tarundeep Singh froze the property by putting up a notice in front of Buta Singh's house.
He further said that after this, Buta Singh cannot buy or sell this property. The market value of this property is around 27 lakhs. He appealed to the people to refrain from selling drugs because under such actions, the property built with the proceeds of drug trafficking is frozen by the government.
