Mobile veterinary service became a boon for thousands of cattle keepers of Una district.

Since March 2024, 2,076 cattle have been treated free of cost directly at their doorsteps through this service.

This service, started with the aim of strengthening animal husbandry, which is called the backbone of the rural economy, is providing relief to every village. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu always emphasizes that services should reach directly to the village to solve the problems related to rural life.
He says that the prosperity of the village is possible only when basic facilities are available to livestock keepers and farmers at their doorstep. Mobile veterinary service is the result of this thinking and its benefits are now clearly visible.
Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Department Una, Dr. Dinesh Parmar says that three mobile van units are working in the district at present. Out of these, the unit of Haroli area has successfully treated 611 cattle, Bangana 757 and Una unit 708 cattle.

Call on toll free number 1962-
Dr. Parmar says that in any emergency, cattle keepers can avail this service by calling on toll free number 1962 for the treatment of sick animals. This van is available from 9 am to 5 pm. The three-member team, which includes a veterinarian, veterinary assistant and pharmacist, provides free treatment at every doorstep. This service is also effective for helpless cattle. Now the cattle keepers do not have to struggle to bring their cattle to the hospital.

Beneficiary cattle keepers appreciated the service-
The beneficiary cattle keepers of these mobile vans operating in Una have openly appreciated this initiative. Whether it was the treatment of broken horn of Jalgran resident Lakhwinder Singh's buffalo or anorexia of Lal Singhi's Surjit Singh's buffalo, treatment of Bittu's cow of Ripoh Misran and Vinod Sharma's bull of Nehriyan, the mobile unit provided timely relief every time.
Similarly, the van located at Haroli successfully treated problems like fever and loss of appetite of Jagdish's cattle of Karmapur, breast infection of Chandra Mohar's cattle of Gondpur Bulla, postpartum weakness of Kirana Devi's cattle of Bhadasali and skin disease of Rakesh Kumar's cattle of Andaura. The van of Bangana also saved the lives of dozens of cattle suffering from diseases like theileriosis, flatulence, insect wounds and diarrhea.

Helpful in strengthening rural economy-
Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal says that with this service not only the animals are getting timely and better treatment but the cattle keepers have also got huge relief. This initiative is strengthening the economic condition of the villages and making animal husbandry more safe and sustainable.
