Jalandhar- "In the light of the Ghadar movement and the thoughts of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, the youth of our times, the working class and the farmers need to take light from Udham Singh, who shone as a symbol of revolution, to create a beautiful society free from all forms of oppression, slavery, discrimination and coercion, free, prosperous and equal."
This message was given by the Desh Bhagat Memorial Committee at the Desh Bhagat Memorial Hall today on the occasion of the martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh.
General Secretary of the Desh Bhagat Memorial Committee Prithipal Singh Marimegha said that Udham Singh has not gone anywhere. He is still alive today in the struggles of students, youth and farmers. He mentioned above that the indigenous and foreign corporate houses are attacking the tribals in the Bastar region to loot the forests, water, land and natural treasures.
He said that it is being openly announced that after March 2026, no trace of Naxalism, Maoism or communist revolutionaries will be allowed to remain, so to publicly confront such a fascist attack of the BJP government, there is a need to take the stirring spirit like that of Shaheed Udham Singh to the wider public. He warned that this attack will be more widespread and sharp in the future for the federal measure of right, truth and justice.
The Vice President of the Committee, Kulwant Singh Sandhu, while learning a lot from the enlightened spirit of Udham Singh in his journey from student life to the farmers' struggle, told the students that they need to read and study the syllabus of their life's journey along with their syllabus.
The Assistant Secretary of the Committee, Charanji Lal Kanganiwal, shared the context of the Ghadar movement and the entire revolutionary history with the reference to Udham Singh. He said that Udham Singh was the jewel of the continuous chain and link of the Ghadar movement, from which the coming generations will also continue to gain the light of consciousness, awakening and sacrifice.
Committee member and convener of the cultural wing, Amolak Singh, said that from the footsteps of Udham Singh's militant journey, we also need to read the footsteps of Ghadri Gulab Kaur's centenary because any people's movement can achieve success only when women and men walk shoulder to shoulder.
He said that the students of Delhi universities are being kept in illegal detention and subjected to unbearable torture, which shows that Udham Singh is being persecuted even today. He said that the homes of common people are not safe in the storms of the world, this is the message of the event.
Committee member, Surinder Kumari Kochhar, while quoting the poems that match the life of Udham Singh, called upon us to write his unparalleled sacrifice in the diary of our minds and let it become a beacon of action.
Committee member Ranjit Singh Aulakh expressed his views regarding the event and said that we need to learn from the sacrifices of people like Udham Singh. Committee President Ajmer Singh said that limiting Shaheed Udham Singh to revenge alone is not fair to his indelible sacrifices.
Because in reality, Udham Singh is not a symbol of revenge but of change. He said that in the name of treaties with England, America and the entire world, deals like selling the country and selling the people are being made. In the future, this is toying with all the resources and lives of the people of the country, which is the need of the hour to be aware of.
In the discussion, it was invited that a strong campaign needs to be launched from now to make the November 1st fair of Ghadri Babas, which is dedicated to the centenary of Bibi Gulab Kaur, a success. The event also expressed the spirit of rolling back policies like land pooling and forcible land acquisition.
