Hoshiarpur- Director of Agriculture Department Punjab Jaswant Singh and Joint Director PP Narinder Pal Singh Benipal conducted a special inspection campaign to prevent misuse of urea fertilizer in plywood factories of the district.
During the inspection, he gave clear instructions to the operators of plywood factories and said that any kind of industrial use of agricultural grade urea, such as plywood manufacturing or use of chemicals in it, is completely banned. He said that urea is an agricultural commodity and its non-agricultural use comes under violation of Fertilizer Control Order 1985.
Jaswant Singh warned that if any industrial unit uses agricultural grade urea for non-agricultural purposes, strict legal action will be taken against the concerned unit. Chief Agriculture Officer Hoshiarpur Davinder Singh Sandhu, Agriculture Officer Kiranjit Singh and Agriculture Development Officer Jatinder Singh were also present during this inspection. They inspected the concerned factories thoroughly and also gave necessary guidelines.
