Nawanshahr- Today, the New Auto Workers Union (Iftu) has announced to attend the state-level rally being held in Sangrur on July 25 for the release of the arrested leaders of the Land Acquisition Struggle Committee and against police repression in collaboration with fraternal organizations. The union made this announcement in a district-level meeting held here.
Speaking on the occasion, Indian Federation of Trade Unions (Iftu) state president Kulwinder Singh Waraich said that on May 20, at the instigation of the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab, the police had arrested the leaders and workers of the Land Acquisition Struggle Committee who were going to establish Begum Pura on 927 acres of benami land in Sangrur district, many of whom are still in jail. The police summoned two leaders of the committee and arrested them on the pretext of talks.
He said that the Mann government is making Punjab a police state. Fake police encounters are being staged every day, deaths are happening in police custody. Struggling organizations are being suppressed by police force and houses are being demolished with bulldozers on the lines of UP. He said that the Mann government never tires of praising Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dr. BR Ambedkar but is putting their real heirs in jail.
He said that the anti-Dalit face of the Mann government is being exposed day by day and the mountains of smoke raised by this government are being blown away by the wind of struggles. The leaders said that people's struggles cannot be suppressed by force. He said that the organizations will break the police terror by holding a big gathering in Sangrur. Auto Union District President Puneet Kumar Bachhauri said that the government is not paying any attention to the demands of auto workers.
Therefore, a meeting of all auto unions of Punjab is being held in Nawanshahr on August 10 to outline the struggle. He said that the BJP government of Delhi is making plans to declare diesel vehicles as scrap after 10 years of operation and petrol vehicles as scrap after 15 years, which should be strongly opposed because other states including Punjab will also adopt this path. Due to this, the Delhi government wants to benefit the auto industry and wants to scrap the people. On this occasion, auto union leaders Des Raj, Gopi, Taranjit, Kulwinder Singh, Resham Hansron and Bhupinder Singh also expressed their views.
