Ahmedabad plane crash: Pilots' federation concerned over initial report
Mumbai: The Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has demanded that subject matter experts be involved in the re-evaluation and investigation into possible technical miscalculations or mechanical faults in the crashed Air India Boeing 787-8 aircraft. The federation said the report failed to consider or accept two potential and previously documented technical aspects, either of which could have caused the spontaneous shutdown of both engines.
The Air India Boeing 787-8 aircraft had taken off from Ahmedabad for London Gatwick on June 12 and crashed into a building soon after takeoff. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) had released its initial report on the crash on July 12.
It appears that.
The association alleged in the letter that this is not the first time that failures in the systems of Boeing aircraft have been initially linked to pilot error or suicidal intent, which have been proven wrong by subsequent investigations.
Pilots of Air India 171 deserve respect, not baseless character consequences: Pilots' association
Pilots' group ALPA India said that the crew of the crashed Air India 171 flight did everything possible to protect the passengers on board and they deserve respect. The Airline Pilots' Association India is demanding a transparent investigation into the June 12 plane crash.
“Pilots are trained professionals who are responsible for hundreds of lives and they discharge this responsibility with dedication and honor. The crew made every effort to protect the passengers on board and minimize the damage on the ground till their last breath,” the association said in a statement. They deserve respect, not baseless character assassination.’’
Although the preliminary report has not drawn any conclusions as the investigation is ongoing, some speculation is being made that possible pilot error could also have caused the accident. The report said that the plane’s fuel switches were closed within a second of takeoff and there was confusion in the cockpit before the plane hit a building.
