
‘By-election of Sarpanches and Panches’; 8 nomination papers filed for Panches on the second day of nominations
Hoshiarpur- Giving information, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain said that as per the schedule issued by the State Election Commission, Punjab, by-election for vacant posts in Gram Panchayats is being held on 27th July 2025 (Sunday). She said that by-election will be held to fill 4 vacant posts of Sarpanches and 151 vacant posts of Panches in Hoshiarpur district.
Hoshiarpur- Giving information, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain said that as per the schedule issued by the State Election Commission, Punjab, by-election for vacant posts in Gram Panchayats is being held on 27th July 2025 (Sunday). She said that by-election will be held to fill 4 vacant posts of Sarpanches and 151 vacant posts of Panches in Hoshiarpur district.
She said that on the second day of nominations for these elections, no nominations were received for Sarpanches, while 8 nominations were filed for Panches. He said that today, 3 nominations were filed for Panchs in Talwara, 2 in Garhshankar and 1 in Hoshiarpur-1, 1 in Bhunga and 1 in Mahilpur.
He said that no nominations were filed on the first day of nominations yesterday, July 14. He said that nominations can be filed in the office of the concerned Returning Officers till July 17, 2025 (Thursday), from 11 am to 3 pm daily.
He said that the scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on July 18, 2025 (Friday). The last date for withdrawal of nominations is July 19, 2025 (Saturday) till 3 pm.
The District Election Officer said that after the voting, the counting of votes will be done at the concerned polling station on the same day. He said that the administration is making all necessary arrangements to conduct the elections in a peaceful, fair and transparent manner.
