Deputy Commissioner holds review meeting with members of District Road Safety Committee to prevent road accidents

Nagar, July 09, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today held a special meeting with the District Transport Department and District Road Safety Committee at the District Administrative Complex regarding road safety arrangements. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner asked the officials to rectify the black spots (accident prone places) on the main roads of the district due to which people are facing difficulties on priority basis.

Nagar, July 09, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today held a special meeting with the District Transport Department and District Road Safety Committee at the District Administrative Complex regarding road safety arrangements. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner asked the officials to rectify the black spots (accident prone places) on the main roads of the district due to which people are facing difficulties on priority basis.
Giving information in this regard, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration is fully alert to prevent road accidents in the district. He said that under the newly launched City Surveillance and Traffic Management System in the city, the Municipal Corporation and GMADA have been instructed to immediately ensure the clarity of traffic signs on the roads, such as zebra crossings, no parking sign boards, stop lines and speed limit boards, etc., in collaboration with the police.
He issued instructions to the officials of various institutions of the district, NHAI, GMADA, BDR and Municipal Corporation, to immediately correct the black spots (accident spots) on the roads of the district and said that any work on traffic lights, slip roads, service lines, etc. on the roads coming under their jurisdiction should be done immediately.
He asked for continuous checking to stop unauthorized cuts made on the roads in the city and to prevent carts, carts, illegal encroachments and wrong parking of vehicles etc. Along with this, he asked the people to be informed about the Scheme for Grant of Award to the Good Samaritan run by the government that if any person helps a person who has met with an accident, then he will be given Rs. 2000 by the government (under the Farishte Scheme).
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed on the immediate reporting of accidents on the E-DAR portal. He said that this platform helps in identifying the places responsible for accidents and getting compensation quickly.
Apart from this, he asked for immediate disposal of pending applications of hit and run cases so that relief of Rs. 2 lakh can be given in cases of death and Rs. 50,000 in cases of serious injuries.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (J) Geetika Singh SDM Derabassi, Mr. Amit Gupta RTA Mr. Rajpal Singh Sekhon, Non-Official Member of District Road Safety Committee Harpreet Singh besides senior officers of other departments were present.
