SAS Nagar, July 5- The monthly meeting of the Mohali unit of Punjab Police Pensioners Welfare Association was held at the district office of the association under the chairmanship of District President and General Secretary of Punjab Unit, Retired Inspector Mahinder Singh.

Giving details of the meeting, District General Secretary Dr. Daljit Singh Kailo said that the meeting specifically discussed that at present there is a huge shortage of staff posted in police stations and posts, due to which the employees on duty are doing their duty with great mental distress.
Due to shortage of staff, employees have to do multiple duties in a day for a long time. During the meeting, it was said that the general public is suffering the brunt of the shortage of staff in police stations and people are being insulted in police stations for their work. The public has to wait for many days for the settlement of their complaints, due to which anger against the government increases.
A resolution was passed in the meeting demanding that Punjab government should make new recruitments on a large scale keeping in view the large scale retirements in Punjab Police. Apart from this, it was also demanded that a separate security wing should be established for the security of VIPs and to provide duty on VIP routes and security arrangements should be made through this security wing only.
Among others, Manmohan Singh Kahlon, Dharam Singh Nabha, Ratan Singh Zirakpur, Jasmer Singh Maujpur, Pal Singh Kakrali, Sukhbir Singh Sodhi, Rajinder Kumar, Raghveer Singh (office in-charge, all retired inspectors), Jatinder Kumar, Jasdeep Singh, Surjit Singh (all retired SHOs) etc. participated in the meeting.
