S.A.S. Nagar, June 13- A Chandigarh Police constable, a resident of Hulka village near Banur, has alleged that he was attacked with a knife over a land dispute. However, even after a month, the police have not arrested the main accused in the case.
Giving details, complainant Sukhdeep Singh said that he is an employee in Chandigarh Police. On May 13, when he returned to his village after finishing his duty, his son told him that Ram Singh of the same village had built a wall on his land. When he went to stop Ram Singh along with his son and brother, three sons and two grandsons of Ram Singh were present there, who attacked them.
He said that when they were beating his son and brother, he tried to stop them, but one of them hit him on the head with a lathi, while Ram Singh's son Sikhander Singh stabbed him twice in the stomach. After this, the accused fled from the spot, and Sukhdeep was admitted to Banur Hospital. Seeing his critical condition, he was referred to Civil Hospital, Phase-6. There he remained on ventilator for 15 days and regained consciousness about 22 days after the operation.
The complainant said that the police have not taken any action against the accused in this case so far. In this regard, he met the SHO of Banur police station and asked for action, but initially he was put off. Later the police registered a case under very mild sections, which resulted in the attacker getting bail from the court.
He told that when the doctor's report came from Phase-6 Civil Hospital, the police had to add another section in the case, due to which the bail plea of ????Sikander Singh, who stabbed, was rejected. Still, the police did not arrest him.
Sukhdeep Singh said that the police is not taking proper action in this case due to political pressure. He demanded that the case should be investigated impartially and the culprits should be given strict punishment.
When contacted, SHO Gursewak Singh of Banur police station said that a case was registered against seven people including Ram Singh, Sikhander Singh under section 326 on the basis of Sukhdeep Singh's statements in the fight between two parties in Hulka village. Except Sikhander Singh, the rest have got bail. He said that if there is a need to add section 307 after examining the medical records, then that will also be done. He denied any political pressure in this case.
Ram Singh of the other party denied Sukhdeep's allegations and said that the attack was not done by him, but on him. He said that he himself was admitted to Rajpura Hospital, and due to deteriorating condition, he was referred to Patiala. His Amritdhari son Sikhander Singh's turban was insulted, after which he attacked with Sirri Sahib (small sword) in self-defense.
Village Sarpanch Manjit Singh said that both the parties have suffered losses in the fight over the road, so the matter will be resolved by sitting both the parties.
