In this meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners, Dr. Mishra emphasized on making adequate arrangements and strategic vision to deal with the flood, directed to conduct quality site inspection , make all the preparations on time .
Dr. Mishra also directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure comprehensive contingency planning including mock drills at the ground level . He directed the officers to ensure proper utilization of all pumping infrastructure and manpower , identify flood-hit hotspots and nominate responsible officers for each critical area . He also directed them to keep a close watch on the presence and deployment of pump operators and support staff, with special focus on preventing urban waterlogging .
He directed the Deputy Commissioners to look after the Public Health Engineering Department and Urban Local Corporations so that rainwater drainage can be done smoothly in both urban and rural areas under their jurisdiction .
Dr. Mishra said that Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini has clear instructions that no negligence of any kind will be tolerated in this important responsibility .
It was informed during the meeting that Haryana has made a remarkable increase in drain desilting activities by achieving about 78% clearance of the target 4,097.41 km of drain network by June 10, which is a remarkable increase from 19.20% recorded on May 27. Dr. Mishra has fixed a target date of June 20, 2025 to achieve 100% drain clearance . The review said that with the coordinated efforts of the department's machinery, MGNREGA workers and e-tendering processes, 672 out of 868 drains have been cleaned by the financial year 2025. The Land Reforms and Development Corporation has reported 82.51% completion of the work , while the Bhakra Jal Sewa has completed 76.62% of the work .
The Irrigation and Water Resources Department showcased its preparedness , with a robust inventory of 553.22 km HDPE pipelines and 2,401 pumps including diesel, electric and VT mobile units , ready for rapid deployment .
Dr. Mishra said that our priority is to protect communities and agricultural land from monsoon-related risks .
Irrigation Commissioner and Secretary Mohammad Shine briefed the meeting about the ongoing efforts to protect the population and agricultural land of the state . The department is currently implementing 209 official flood protection projects worth Rs. 282.95 crore , most of which are planned to be completed by June 30, 2025 .
