S.A.S. Nagar, June 10- Members of Association of Junior Engineers, PSEB Employees Federation (AITUC), Ministerial Services Union, Mohali have been staging a protest at Distribution Circle (Special), Mohali since June 9 against orders suspending Engineer Gurdeep Singh, JE posted at Sub Divisional Office, Powercom, Mohali.
Giving information in this regard, Engineer Ranjit Singh Dhillon, President, Association of Junior Engineers, Punjab said that a meeting was held with circle-level officers by the Joint Action Committee on the occasion, and they agreed to resolve the issue, but Chief Engineer, Distribution South, Patiala, Engineer Rattan Kumar Mittal outrightly rejected the talks with the organizations.
He said that in this regard the organizations have decided to intensify the struggle, and the employees will follow the work-to-rule policy, perform their scheduled duty from 9 AM to 5 PM (8 hours), and the linemen and assistant linemen will not take any permit or handle any tripping during their 8 hours scheduled duty. Besides, the clerical staff will only perform their scheduled duty from 9 AM to 5 PM.
He said that the aim of the organizations is to provide uninterrupted supply to the consumers from the existing resources, but due to arbitrary orders of some officers both the employees and general consumers have to face troubles. He said that if the Chief Engineer, Distribution South, does not resolve the issue, the organizations will be forced to intensify the struggle, and the entire responsibility for this will be of the Chief Engineer, Distribution South, Patiala.
On this occasion, Engineer Nirmal Singh, Engineer Balwinder Kumar, Engineer Gurmeet Singh Gill, Mr. Sukhinderpal Singh, Mr. Gurpreet Singh Chhina, Engineer Balpreet Singh, Engineer Ravinder Tungar, Engineer Sonia, Engineer Priyanka, Engineer Gurpreet Kaur, Engineer Mohan Singh Gill, and from Pension Union Mr. Sukhdev Singh Chauhan, Engineer Himanshu Jindal addressed the protest.
