
DIET Hoshiarpur successfully organized training session for District Level Gender Champions under Gender Sensitization Programme.
Hoshiarpur- District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Hoshiarpur organized a one day training session for District Level Block Nodal Gender Champions under “Chanan Rishman” programme. This Gender Sensitization Programme is implemented under the tripartite joint initiative of Government of Punjab, Breakthrough and J-PAL with the aim to provide gender-equitable education system in schools of Punjab.

This Gender Sensitization Programme is implemented under the tripartite joint initiative of Government of Punjab, Breakthrough and J-PAL with the aim to provide gender-equitable education system in schools of Punjab.
The training was led by Dr. Ritu Kumra and Dr. Arjun Kattal, District Resource Persons of DIET Hoshiarpur. Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Ritu Kumra said that one of the objectives of the day is to prepare gender champions who will in the next phase train school teachers on gender-sensitive practices. She expressed gratitude to Breakthrough, J-PAL and Government of Punjab for the planning and vision, which is an important step towards establishing Gender Transformative Education System (GTES).
During this training, gender socialization, role of institutions like family, education, culture, economic system, media and technology and responsibilities of gender nodal officers to support teachers with regard to gender equitable curriculum were also discussed. Mr. Manish, representative from Breakthrough, gave very effective information about the content available on Diksha App and Punjab EduCare App and taught the trainees how to use digital tools for gender-sensitive learning.
The event was full of discussions, sharing and commitment towards establishing a gender-equal education system. The Block Nodal Gender Champions present pledged to take this campaign forward in their areas and fulfill their commitment to become ambassadors of change.
