Attacker arrested in Akali councillor murder case.

Amritsar, May 26 – In the murder case of Shiromani Akali Dal councillor Harjinder Singh alias Bahman, the police have taken action against the attackers and arrested one of them after he was injured in a police encounter. The attacker has been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi.

DGP Gaurav Yadav disclosed this through his social media account that the police took swift action in the incident that happened yesterday and arrested the attackers in just eight hours. He said that one of them, Gurpreet Singh, opened fire on the police when the police were chasing him in Fatehpur area to arrest him.
In retaliation, the SHO of Chheharta police station also opened fire, due to which he was injured in the right leg. The police immediately arrested him and recovered a nine mm Glock pistol from him. He has been brought to the Civil Hospital for treatment.
The DGP said that four gangsters have been arrested in this case and they are related to the Kishan gang sitting abroad. The police are conducting further investigation in this case. According to the information received, Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar is going to inspect the incident site shortly. It may be recalled that Shiromani Akali Dal councilor Harjinder Singh was shot dead after 3 pm on Sunday when he had gone to attend a private function in Chheharta area.
