
One day with DC: Hoshiarpur toppers got administrative experience, inspiration of leadership and public service.
Hoshiarpur- As part of the special initiative of Punjab Government “One day with DC”, today the brilliant students of Hoshiarpur district who secured first, second and third positions in class 10th spent an inspiring day with Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain. The aim of this innovative initiative was not only to felicitate the talented students but also to make them familiar with the ground reality of administrative experience, leadership and public service.
Hoshiarpur- As part of the special initiative of Punjab Government “One day with DC”, today the brilliant students of Hoshiarpur district who secured first, second and third positions in class 10th spent an inspiring day with Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain. The aim of this innovative initiative was not only to felicitate the talented students but also to make them familiar with the ground reality of administrative experience, leadership and public service.
The students reached DC residence at 7 am, where they were given a warm welcome. Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain participated in the introductory session with the students and gave a glimpse of her daily disciplined lifestyle. She highlighted the importance of yoga and morning exercise and inspired the students to adopt a healthy lifestyle and had breakfast with them.
After 9 am, the students were taken on a tour of the District Administrative Complex. They got an opportunity to see first-hand the work of various departments, public grievance redressal system and the process of implementation of government schemes. Apart from this, the students also participated in a mini development plan meeting, where developmental issues of the district were discussed.
After this, they had lunch with Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nikas Kumar, SDM Hoshiarpur Gursimranjit Kaur, SDM Tanda Parampreet Singh. Later, they went to the office of Additional Deputy Commissioner and got information about the work being done for rural development.
Around 4 pm, they were taken on a tour of Digital Library Hoshiarpur and Van Chetna Park Basi Purani, where they got information about the facilities available in the library and also interacted with the youth preparing for competitive exams there. At the end of the day, an open dialogue session was held between the students and the Deputy Commissioner, in which the students shared their experiences and heard inspirational thoughts from the DC. Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain honored the students by giving them mementos and wished them a bright future.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this program not only made the students aware of the functioning of the government administration, but also instilled in them the spirit of leadership, discipline and public service. He said that initiatives like “Ek Din DC Ke Saath” can prove to be a milestone in bringing positive change in the lives of students.
On this occasion, Mehakpreet Kaur, a student of Government Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Talwara, who came first, Surekha, a student of Government Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Talwara, who came second, and Mantavya Singh, a student of Government Senior Secondary School Attowal, who came third, appreciated this initiative of the district administration and said that this was a unique opportunity, which gave them a chance to understand the nuances of administrative process, leadership and public service.
They described this experience as unforgettable and inspiring and said that this will help them in setting their future goals. The parents of the children also called it an inspiring step for the all-round development of the students. District Education Officer Lalita Arora was also present during this time.
