Una, May 26- District Disaster Management and Authority Una on Monday organized a comprehensive safe evacuation exercise (mock drill) based on earthquake scenario at Government Senior Secondary School (Bal) Una. About 200 students, teachers and school staff actively participated in this exercise.
This exercise was organized with the aim of increasing awareness of preparedness and safety procedures in case of emergency like earthquake. During the program, timely alert, systematic evacuation from classrooms, and gathering in the identified safe areas in the school premises were carefully executed.
School Principal Surendra Kaundal expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of this mock drill and reiterated his commitment towards the safety and welfare of the school family. He said that such exercises help in making students and staff self-reliant in case of real disaster.
School spokesperson and commerce subject chairman and school disaster management in-charge Vikas Ratan informed that such safe mock drills will be organized in the school every month so that the safety of the children and their uninterrupted education can be ensured. The school administration appreciated the cooperation and discipline of all the participants and expressed commitment to continue such training programs in future as well.
On this occasion, members of the school disaster management committee Vandana Sood, Rajpal Rana, Pravita Sharma, Kishori Lal, Ramkumar, Sanjay Vashisht, Tajinder Kumari, Dashneet Kaur, Ravi Thakur and Neha Pathania along with other staff were present.
