Hoshiarpur- Former MP Avinash Rai Khanna said that deaf and dumb people are unable to speak and hear, due to which they can neither listen to anyone nor tell their problems to anyone. Khanna said that although the government has issued helpline numbers for everyone, but in any emergency situation, deaf and dumb people can neither tell their problems to anyone on the phone nor listen to the solution on the phone, due to which the option of phone helpline without anyone's help is not effective for deaf and dumb people.
Khanna said that he took the initiative and decided to get the WhatsApp helpline number issued from the central government for a permanent solution to this problem of all the deaf and dumb people of the country, because deaf and dumb people are unable to speak and hear, but in any emergency situation they can take help from the government on WhatsApp without anyone's help.
Khanna said that he had been struggling for a long time to get a WhatsApp helpline number issued for the deaf and dumb people, due to which he had written letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Social Welfare, Chairman of the Lok Sabha Petition Committee.
Khanna said that finally he was informed through a letter from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment that the Central Government has issued a WhatsApp helpline number 8929667579 for the deaf and dumb people and a QR code has been created on the website www.depwd.gov.in. A code has been given, which can be scanned and connected directly to this website.
On this occasion, Khanna expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, the concerned ministries and the Lok Sabha Committee and said that this WhatsApp helpline number will prove to be very helpful for the deaf and dumb people to reach their complaints to the government without any help in any emergency situation.
