Kharar (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), April 30: Kharar Subdivision Magistrate Gurmander Singh and DSP Kharar Karan Singh Sandhu launched awareness campaign against war drug abuse in Kharar subdivision at Government Polytechnic College Khuni Mazra.
The programme was organised under the leadership of Principal of Government Polytechnic College Khuni Mazra Raksha Kiran and Director of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University Dr. Monika Sachdeva.
The awareness seminar was started by the keynote speaker Gurbakshish Singh Antal, Civil Engineering Officer and Convener of Technical Education Department of Campaign Against Drug Abuse on the ill effects of drug abuse and contribution of students in this campaign.
SDM Gurmander Singh motivated the students to stay away from drug abuse by giving them important information about the physical, mental, social, economic, psychological ill effects of drug abuse. On this occasion, DSP Karan Singh Sandhu motivated the youth to contribute to this campaign. He said that the police is dealing with the drug smugglers with full force.
He asked the youth to share information with the police about any illegal activity of the drug smugglers. Health Department expert Dr. Rahul Bhalla shared information about the efforts of the Punjab Government to free people from drug addiction. He also made the students aware about its various reasons.
BPO Kamaljit Singh of District Education Department, College War Against Drugs Program Incharge Parminder Singh Saini, National Service Scheme Program Officer Barinder Pratap Singh, Head of Mechanical Department Sanjeev Jindal and officials of various departments participated in this program. After the seminar, SDM Kharar Gurmander Singh flagged off the awareness rally.
