The operation was carried out by the team of Police Station Sector-31 under the leadership of Inspector Rajiv Kumar (SHO/PS-31), with the supervision of Sh. Satyam Kumar, aged 20 and a resident of Pabhat, Zirakpur, was apprehended near Japani Garden, Sector 31, while riding an Activa scooter without a front number plate. On checking, police discovered that a fake temporary number was affixed at the rear. Upon verifying the engine and chassis number, the original registration number HP12G-8902 was traced, which had been reported stolen in a case registered at Zirakpur. The rider was unable to produce any documents and was acting suspiciously. On personal search, six mobile phones were found in his possession.
During questioning, Satyam confessed to having snatched a mobile phone from a passerby on April 25 near Plot No. 99, Industrial Area Phase 2, Chandigarh. A separate FIR had already been registered in that case. Based on his disclosure, police also recovered another stolen motorcycle bearing registration number CH01BD-1513.
In a parallel case, another 20-year-old youth named Ruddal, a resident of Deep Complex, Hallo Majra, Chandigarh, was arrested for his involvement in vehicle theft. He was found in possession of a stolen Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle with registration number PB65AL-8495. His arrest is linked to an e-FIR registered on April 12, 2025, and the stolen bike was recovered during further investigation.
With these arrests, Chandigarh Police have successfully solved four cases—two registered at PS-31, one e-FIR case, and one case reported at Zirakpur Police Station. Both accused are unemployed, have low educational qualifications, and do not have any previous criminal record.
In total, police have recovered six mobile phones, one Activa scooter, and two stolen motorcycles in the course of this operation. The Chandigarh Police reaffirm their commitment to public safety and will continue taking strict action against those involved in criminal activities.
