Powercom CHBW workers met electricity board officials regarding tenders

Sharing the information of the meeting, State President Balihar Singh, State Assistant Secretary Tek Chand, Circle President Sukhpal Singh, Circle Secretary Surinder Singh Ajay Kumar and Circle Senior Vice President Jang Singh said that Powercom management is issuing new tenders for CHB, WB and CHH workers inside the power company, under which CHB workers are being recruited through outsourcing for a long time to maintain power supply, who are continuously working inside the power company. A series of meetings are going on with the Punjab Government and Powercom Management regarding the demands of CHB, WB and CHH workers. In today's meeting regarding tenders, the contract employees demanded that instead of giving benefits to big companies, the contract employees recruited through outsourcing should be directly included in the department and minimum living wage should be fixed and the employee who dies due to electric shock should be given permanent job along with pension and arrangement should be made for good treatment of the employee who dies due to electric shock.
In the tenders made earlier, the facilities given to the employees by big companies were not implemented and the arrears received as per labor laws were not paid, due to which there is continuous protest among the contract employees. They demanded that the contract system should be stopped and all outsourced contract employees should be directly included in the department and minimum living wage should be fixed, the employee who dies due to electric shock should be guaranteed permanent job pension and the demands listed in the demand letter should be resolved.
The organization leaders said that their demand will be raised strongly in the meeting to be held with the Finance Minister and Power Minister on January 16, 2025 because Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has already assigned the duty of the Power Secretary to resolve the demands and the Power Secretary has also assured to resolve the demands. He said that if a circular is not issued on January 16, 2025 to resolve the demands, then a continuous state-level dharna will be held along with families and children in Mohali, Chandigarh on January 17, 2025. A protest notice was also handed over to the Deputy Manager IR PSPCL in today's meeting.
