
Smooth procurement of wheat in the district, arrival of 65259 metric tonnes of crop, 63354 metric tonnes of wheat procured so far: Deputy Commissioner.
Hoshiarpur- The procurement process is going on smoothly in the district, 65259 metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis, out of which 63354 metric tonnes i.e. 97 percent of wheat has been procured by the concerned agencies.

Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that necessary appropriate arrangements have been made at the procurement centers for the convenience of all stakeholders. She also directed the sub-divisional magistrates to keep a close watch on the procurement process so that immediate action can be taken if required. She said that the agencies already have sufficient quantity of gunny bags and tarpaulins available, so that there is no hindrance in the lifting work and the crop can also be lifted within the stipulated time. He further said that till now the concerned agencies have lifted 13822 metric tonnes of crop from the mandis, which is about 124 percent of the stipulated time limit of 72 hours.
Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain also informed that within the next 48 hours of purchase, payment of Rs 103.15 crore is being made directly into the accounts of the farmers. Thus, Rs 103.15 crore has been paid into the bank accounts of the farmers. He said that Pangrain, Markfed, Punsup, Warehouse and FCI agencies are also purchasing the crop of farmers in 65 mandis and two temporary yards in the district. He also directed the concerned officials to visit the mandis regularly to review the current pace of purchase.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the farmers to bring only dry crop and directed the concerned officials to speed up the lifting process to make space for the new crop.
