Buxar (Bihar), April 20 - Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has termed the alliance between the ruling JDU and BJP in Bihar as an 'opportunistic' alliance. He said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar changes sides just for the chair.
Addressing the 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan' rally at Dalsagar Stadium in Buxar, Kharge appealed to the people of the state to oust the NDA government from power in the assembly elections due later this year. The Congress president said, "The alliance between Nitish Kumar and BJP is opportunistic. It is not good for the people of the state. Nitish Kumar changes sides just for the 'chair' (the post of Chief Minister). The Janata Dal (U) chief has joined hands with the ideology that killed Mahatma Gandhi.” He also questioned what happened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of a Rs 1.25 lakh crore package for Bihar. He accused the Prime Minister of running a “factory of lies”.
On the recent chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul in the National Herald case, Kharge said, “This has been done to target the Congress. Our leaders cannot be intimidated. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the country.”
The Congress president also alleged that the RSS and the BJP are “not in favour of the welfare of the weaker sections of the society.” Kharge claimed, “They are against the poor, women and the weaker sections of the society… They (RSS-BJP) cannot think for the betterment of the society. They believe in dividing society on the basis of caste and religion. "The Waqf (Amendment) Bill passed by Parliament is a conspiracy of the BJP and the RSS to create division among communities," Kharge alleged.
