Patiala, January 8 – 30 units from various states and Union Territories participated in the league matches of the National School Games 2023-24 Basketball Boys Under-19 Tournament at Patiala. The pre-quarter final matches will be played on January 9. The Punjab team has entered the pre-quarterfinals by winning both their league matches.

Deputy District Education Officer Secondary Patiala Dr. Ravinderpal Singh said that during the tournament, respected personalities of the city and area are encouraging the players from different states and Union Territories. Therefore, the office of the District Education Officer, Patiala, with the support of the district administration and other departments, is working to run the games smoothly. Sanctioning Officer Harmandeep Kaur reviewed the entire arrangements and said that teams have been formed under different principals and head masters to provide food, lodging and sports facilities for the players and their support staff. On this occasion, Prof. Tarlok Singh Sandhu Olympian Moscow 1980 also arrived to play the basketball match and inspired the players to play with respect for the game and bring glory to the country. On this occasion Himanshu Shukla Observer School Games Federation of India, Daljit Singh Sports Coordinator Patiala, Principal Jaspal Singh Mandore and members of various organizing committees working for the tournament were also present.
