SAS Nagar, April 17- In order to provide clean, safe and properly pressured water supply to the residents of Mohali, the Water Supply and Sanitation Department has issued orders strictly prohibiting misuse of water during morning supply from April 15 till further orders, keeping in mind the shortage of water in the summer season.
In this regard, the orders issued by the Executive Engineer of Water Supply and Sanitation Division No. 2 have said that watering gardens, flower pots etc. in the house during the morning supply, washing scooters, cars or other vehicles by attaching a pipe to the tap, sweeping the yard, floor, roads etc., using the Tulu pump directly on the pipeline, any leakage in the pipe from the ferrule to the meter, overflowing of tanks placed on the roof of the house, desert coolers fall under the category of water misuse.
The orders have said that if any tenant or servant working in the house or maid is found misusing water in any house or cottage, then the fine due to the violation will be imposed on the landlord.
After the first violation, the consumer will be fined Rs. 1000/-. After the second violation, the consumer will be fined Rs. 2000/- which will be included in the water bill. After the third violation, the consumer will be informed that his water connection will be disconnected without giving any notice. The connection will be considered only after the consumer is fined Rs. 5000/- and an affidavit is taken, in which case only the Executive Engineer will have the right to decide.
