Hoshiarpur- Today on 17.04.2025, a district level quarterly meeting was held under the leadership of Hon'ble Shri Dilbag Singh Johal, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur. During this meeting, Hon'ble Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur, Additional District & Sessions Judge Hoshiarpur, SSP Hoshiarpur, Chief Judicial Magistrate Hoshiarpur, Shri Raj Pal Rawal, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur, District Attorney, Hoshiarpur, District Public Relations Officer, Hoshiarpur, President, District Bar Association, Hoshiarpur and District Level Nominated Members participated.
During this, Hon'ble Shri Dilbag Singh Johal, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur gave guidelines regarding filing as many pre-litigation cases as possible in the National Lok Adalat to be held on 10.05.2025.
So that the public can get the pending cases in the courts settled through these National Lok Adalats by mutual consent, which will save the money and time of the public. Apart from this, the promotion of various schemes of NALSA being run by the department was also discussed, so that the general public can get maximum benefit from these schemes. During this meeting, legal aid, legal advice provided to various persons from January, 2025 to March, 2025 and awards passed in Lok Adalat held in March, 2025 were also discussed, during which it was told that from January, 2025 to March, 2025, legal aid was provided to 401 persons, legal advice to 196 persons and awards of Rs. 1.5 crore were provided.
During this, it was also told that 20025 cases were placed in the National Lok Adalat held in March, 2025, out of which 17294 cases were settled on the spot and awards worth Rs. 73366781 were passed. In this meeting, Hon'ble Shri Dilbag Singh Johal, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur directed to organize seminars in various villages to publicize NALSA schemes and provide legal aid in District Hoshiarpur. Apart from this, instructions were given to provide information to the general public about the benefits of National Lok Adalat, Permanent Lok Adalat and to play an important role in resolving disputes in a simple, pressure-free environment with the aim of settling disputes through mediation.
