Hoshiarpur- Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said during a press conference in Haryana today that the work done by the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab towards the advancement and empowerment of the Scheduled Caste community is historic and commendable. He said that when the Aam Aadmi Party came to power in the year 2022, the first thing done was to put up pictures of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh in all government offices so that the message could be given that this government is committed to taking every section of the society along.
Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the Aam Aadmi Party is continuously taking steps towards fulfilling the dream seen by Baba Saheb Ambedkar. He said that for the first time in any state of the country, 58 posts have been approved for Scheduled Caste lawyers in the Advocate General's office, which is a big and historic decision in itself.
He said that when the recruitment process for these posts was started, it was observed that 15 posts remained vacant. On analysing the situation, it was found that the income criteria set for these posts were quite high. For example, an annual income of Rs 20 lakh was mandatory for Senior Advocate General and Rs 15 lakh for Additional Advocate General. These conditions were becoming a big hurdle for the poor and deprived sections.
Keeping this problem in mind, the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken a bold and historic decision and has given 50 per cent relaxation in the eligibility conditions of Income Tax Return (ITR). This will now make more lawyers from Scheduled Castes eligible for these posts and ensure their participation in the judicial system. The Local Bodies Minister said that this decision is not limited to increasing the number of jobs, but it is also a big social message that now no class will remain backward.
He said that the sensitivity shown by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann towards the Scheduled Caste community and their children is really commendable and for this the entire Scheduled Caste community thanks him wholeheartedly.
Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the Aam Aadmi Party government is constantly striving to bring the person standing in the last row of the society into the mainstream and such public welfare decisions will continue to be taken in future as well. Haryana Municipal Council President Sanjay Kapila and Mukesh Dadwal were also present on this occasion.
