The Federation has said that although this decision has been taken very late, they strongly welcome this delayed decision. The Federation said that the reduction in this promotion quota by the Congress government in 2018 was disappointing. Due to which hundreds of lecturers and teachers are retiring waiting for their promotion. The Mahasangh had been demanding for a long time that the promotion quota which was reduced in 2018 should be increased to 75% again.
The Mahasangh had also announced to stage a dharna in front of the house of the state president of Aam Aadmi Party regarding this demand. After which the state president Aman Arora had promised to accept this demand. And he had assured to appoint the chairman and other members of the General Category Welfare Commission. It is expected that this demand will also be fulfilled soon. The Mahasangh said that if the current Education Minister really understands the pain of these teachers and really wants to bring an education revolution in Punjab, then this decision should be implemented without any delay.
He said that for the last several months this file was pending due to Babushahi. Which the Education Minister has approved by taking personal interest. Which the Mahasangh heartily welcomes. Joint Action Committee Punjab Chief Organizer Shyam Lal Sharma, Doaba General Category Front President Balbir Singh Fuglana have also welcomed this decision of the government.
All the speakers have demanded from the Chief Minister of Punjab and Education Minister of Punjab that they should personally intervene and resolve the office hurdles soon so that this order does not remain pending in the office files like before. Federation's press secretary Jasvir Singh Garang has reminded of the statement of Aam Aadmi Party's state in-charge Manish Susodhia, who had said that now the work will be done at rocket speed.
He said that the seriousness of this statement will be known from the future action taken in this regard. The Federation has demanded that the government should issue a notification in this regard soon. Only after this, principals will be appointed in schools.
