Punjab Food Commission Member Vijay Dutt inspects government primary and middle schools in Mohali

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, March 19, 2025:- In order to ensure compliance with the National Food Security Act and to bring transparency in the quality and quantity of food items provided in government schools, anganwadi centers, and distributed through public ration depots, the Punjab State Food Commission will conduct surprise inspections regularly, said Vijay Dutt, Member, Punjab State Food Commission by adding that strict action will be taken against anyone found negligent in implementing these schemes.

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, March 19, 2025:- In order to ensure compliance with the National Food Security Act and to bring transparency in the quality and quantity of food items provided in government schools, anganwadi centers, and distributed through public ration depots, the Punjab State Food Commission will conduct surprise inspections regularly, said Vijay Dutt, Member, Punjab State Food Commission by adding that strict action will be taken against anyone found negligent in implementing these schemes.
Today, Mr Vijay Dutt inspected government primary and middle schools in Mohali's Phase 6, 7, and 9. He reviewed the ongoing beneficiary programs under the National Food Security Act and issued guidelines to ensure their proper implementation.
During the inspection, he emphasized maintaining the food testing register for the Mid-Day Meal program, providing children with clean and nutritious meals, and ensuring cleanliness during the meal process. He interacted with school children regarding the Mid-Day Meal and also had the meal with them. Furthermore, he instructed the concerned department to regularly check the quality of water and TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) in schools and ensure periodic health check-ups for both students and Mid-Day Meal workers.
Vijay Dutt also directed the promotion of the Punjab State Food Commission's helpline number (9876764545) in all government schools of the district. He mentioned that if any beneficiary has a complaint regarding the National Food Security Act, they can register their complaint on this helpline number.
