Nawanshahr- District Magistrate, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Ankurjit Singh, exercising the powers vested in him under Section 163 of the Indian Citizen Security Code, 2023, has issued orders that no person/institution in the district shall construct any gate on government/panchayat land.
If any such memorial gate is to be constructed, then the approval should be taken from the District Magistrate's office only after taking permission from the concerned department. In the orders issued, the District Magistrate has said that it has come to his notice that people in villages construct memorial gates in the memory of any of their close relatives on government/panchayat land without taking any permission and without getting approval from any competent department.
In this way, wherever government land is illegally occupied, there is always a risk of the gates constructed in this way collapsing, which also poses a risk of loss of life/property. Therefore, it is necessary to ban the construction of such gates in the district. These orders will remain in force till May 31, 2025.
