Smooth Procurement Operations in SAS Nagar Mandis; 17,537 MT Paddy Arrives, 17,187 MT Procured So Far

SAS Nagar, September 29: Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal said that paddy procurement operations for the Kharif Season 2025–26 are progressing smoothly across all mandis of district SAS Nagar.

SAS Nagar, September 29: Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal said that paddy procurement operations for the Kharif Season 2025–26 are progressing smoothly across all mandis of district SAS Nagar.
She informed that on the previous day, 3,938 MT of paddy arrived, taking the cumulative arrival to 17,537 MT, out of which 17,187 MT has already been procured by government agencies.
Providing agency-wise details, the Deputy Commissioner stated that Pungrain has procured 5,799 MT, Markfed 5,176 MT, Punsup 4,211 MT, and Punjab State Warehousing Corporation 2,001 MT.
Highlighting the payment status, Mrs. Mittal stressed that the district administration is ensuring timely payments to farmers within 48 hours of purchase. Against a due payment of Rs 24.59 crore, an amount of Rs 34.69 crore has already been released, achieving 141 percent clearance.
She assured farmers that all necessary arrangements related to procurement, lifting, and payments have been in place, and instructed procurement agencies to maintain efficiency so that no farmer faces any inconvenience in mandis.
The Deputy Commissioner once again appealed to farmers to refrain from burning crop residue/paddy straw and instead manage it with Crop Residue Management (CRM) machinery available in their vicinity.
