Hoshiarpur- District Planning Committee Chairperson Karamjit Kaur said that the Punjab government has intensified the awareness campaign across the state under the war against drugs campaign. In this connection, today Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann are also going to Ludhiana with the youth to further intensify this campaign. The main objective of this initiative is to make people aware about the ill effects of drugs and make Punjab drug free.
The District Planning Committee Chairperson said that this fight against drugs is not only the responsibility of the government but also of every citizen of the society. She said that our aim is to save the youth from the quagmire of drugs and take them towards a better future. Participation of every citizen is necessary in this campaign.
Karamjit Kaur said that under the new initiative to prevent drug abuse, the government is going to form protection committees on the basis of villages and cities. The objective of these committees will be to keep an eye on the drug business, cooperate with the administration and increase awareness against drugs in the society. He appealed to all the citizens to cooperate with the government and administration and contribute to make this campaign a success.
He appealed to all the citizens, teachers, parents and social organizations of the district to actively participate in this awareness campaign and unite against drug abuse. He said that with the cooperation of the local administration, social organizations and youth, awareness programs will be organized at many places in Hoshiarpur.
