Hoshiarpur- Under the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) initiative of the Punjab Government, PTMs were held in over 1700 schools of the district today, which included 490 secondary and over 1200 primary schools.

Meeting parents and teachers at Government Senior Secondary Smart School Birampur, Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly Jai Krishan Singh Rori in his address said that the Aam Aadmi Party government has made unprecedented progress towards improving the education system. Rori said that it is the dream of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to bring about major reforms in the education and health sector, which is clearly visible. He further said that our schools are equipped with all the necessary modern facilities at par with the best private schools.
He also appealed to the parents to get their children admitted in government schools so that they can get quality education as well as other facilities. While attending the PTM at Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Tanda MLA Jasvir Singh Raja Gill thanked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains for the unprecedented development of schools across the state.
He further informed that the school has received a grant of Rs 53 lakh for further infrastructure and upgradation. He said that the Punjab government has budgeted Rs 18000 crore for the education sector which will further strengthen the existing education system. Dasuya MLA Karamjit Singh Ghumman visited Government Elementary School Ghaggar and Wadala and PM Shri Government Secondary School Sector-1 Talwara. Parents present at the PTM programme said that this initiative of the state government is a welcome step.
He said that through this platform, parents and teachers have a comprehensive discussion about the students' academic performance, sports abilities and ECA as well as their personality. He said that Punjab Government would soon hand over appointment letters to 2500 ETT teachers out of which around 700 teachers are to be posted in Hoshiarpur district. The parents also thanked Punjab Government for upgrading the schools of the state on the lines of world class schools.
They expressed great satisfaction that their children are not only getting free quality education but are also getting the benefit of free books, uniforms and educational tours. District Education Officer Lalita Arora visited various schools and appealed to the people to get their children admitted in government schools.
She said that the facilities, services and quality of education in government schools are unmatched. She said that the students will get preparation for competitive exams and other facilities free of cost.
