
General meetings of Gram Sabhas were held in 172 villages of the district on the first day

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, March 29: As per the instructions issued by the Administrative Secretary Ajit Balaji Joshi and Director Umashankar Gupta of the Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Punjab and under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner District SAS Nagar Mrs. Komal Mittal, general meetings of 172 Gram Sabhas were held on the first day today.
According to the information received from Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary, there are a total of 332 Gram Panchayats in the district, of which special general meetings of Gram Sabhas are to be held on March 29 and 30. He said that he himself attended the meeting of village Bakarpur block Mohali from Bairampur and Bhago Majra and District Development and Panchayat Officer Baljinder Singh Grewal.
In these meeting events, all the Gram Sabha members were informed about the works to be done by the Gram Panchayats and were urged to contribute more in these works. All the Gram Sabha members took a pledge to do this work with mutual cooperation.
During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the construction of playgrounds, parks in the villages and de-watering, de-silting of the village ponds and planting trees by making tracks around the ponds. It was also informed that this work should be completed within the time fixed by the Punjab Government. The people present from the villages took a pledge to do these works with mutual cooperation.
The residents of these villages who were present informed about the campaign 'War on Drugs' launched by the Punjab Government against drugs and assured the Punjab Government of their cooperation in this.
On this occasion, the Sarpanches informed the villagers about the efforts being taken by the Gram Panchayat with the support of the Punjab Government for the welfare of the villagers. On this occasion, all the Gram Panchayat members and the villagers were also informed about the development schemes and public welfare schemes being run by the Rural Development and Panchayat Department and other departments.
They also informed that such meetings are being held in all the districts as per the fixed schedule. In which various officials are participating and information about government schemes is being shared.
