He informed that under this campaign, on 29 March 2025, as per the directions of Hon'ble Director General of Police, Punjab, Keso Operation was conducted in the drug affected areas of the district under the supervision of Mr. A.S. Rai IPS ADGP Traffic Punjab and Mrs. Jagdale Neelambari Vijay DIG Ludhiana Range Ludhiana. In this search operation, a police party of 107 police personnel including 01 SP, 06 DSPs was formed and searches were conducted in the drug hotspot villages/wards of the district and persons involved in the drug smuggling trade in particular were checked.
The main objective of this campaign is to control drug smugglers, maintain pressure on drug smugglers, keep an eye on their current activities, break the supply chain of drugs, identify drug addicts and rehabilitate them and create confidence in the general public towards the police. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in this campaign against drugs.
During the month of March, the district police has registered 123 cases and arrested 141 drug smugglers. During this search operation, 223 suspicious persons were investigated. He said that during this search operation, 7 cases were registered and 7 accused were arrested and 110 intoxicating pills, 21 grams of heroin and 12 bottles of liquor were recovered from them. Further action has been started against the arrested accused.
