Drug addiction is not food for humans - Chaman Singh.

Nawanshahr- Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Victims, Nawanshahr organized a drug de-addiction awareness camp under "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" at village Jadli. The camp was presided over by Mrs. Satwant Kaur (Sarpanch). Mr. Chaman Singh (Project Director) while addressing the gathering gave information about the establishment of Red Cross.

He said that adolescence is considered very important in a person's life as it is the time when many physical and psychological changes take place. Increasing stress and peer pressure have led to drug abuse. He said that youths who constantly consume drugs often face various problems, including academic difficulties, health problems (including mental health), poor relationships with peers, etc.
He said that we ourselves are responsible for the diseases as we prefer market food instead of home-made food. In today's time, people have started using wrong methods to get ahead of each other. To make themselves powerful, people are using various types of intoxicants like; tobacco, heroin, opium, ganja, alcohol and medical drugs, due to which the youth are getting trapped in drug addiction.
Addiction makes a person physically and mentally ill, then it becomes difficult for the person to quit addiction. Physical, social and mental health is deteriorating due to addiction and India including Punjab is facing economic recession. Due to drug consumption, a person forgets his relationships.
Due to which unfortunate incidents are happening in the society. Cases of black jaundice, HIV are increasing. To stop drug addiction, we have to start from our home itself. It is important to give good values ??to our children along with the family. It is important to know about the lives of great people. Only with the cooperation of everyone, India can become drug free and the war against drug addiction can be successful.
Mrs. Kamaljit Kaur (Counselor) also shared detailed information about the treatment of patients at Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Victims, Nawanshahr, she said that any drug addict can stay in the hospital for one month as per his wish and get free treatment.
Since drug addiction cannot be overcome by staying at home, it is important to reach out to psychiatrists and de-addiction centres to get rid of drug addiction. On this occasion, Director Sugar Mill Nawanshahr Mr. Haripal Singh addressed the villagers about the ill effects of drug addiction. He thanked the Red Cross team and assured that anti-drug awareness camps will continue to be organized in future as well. On this occasion Pravesh Kumar (Peer Educator), Navroop Singh (Punch), Karan (Punch), Davinder Kaur (NREGA Mate), Mandeep Kaur (Punch), Sarabjeet Ram (Punch), Harpal Kaur (Anganwadi Worker), Manjeet Kaur (Anganwadi Worker), Katan Rani (Anganwadi Helper), Meshu Kumar (Punch), Anjali, Rajveer, Tarsem Singh and a large number of villagers were present.
