Nawanshahr - Young Australian Writers Award winner Ashlyn Khela hails from village Sajawalpur (Balachaur) of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. Ashlyn Khela, along with her father, got information about the day-to-day services provided by the local BDC Blood Centre. Ashlyn Lekha and her father Amarjit Singh Lekha were welcomed with a bouquet of flowers.

Dr Ajay Bagga explained the functioning of machines and equipment in various branches of the building and shared information about whole blood and blood cell services. Gurinder Singh Toor, Jaspal Singh Gidda, Parvesh Kumar, Dr Ajay Bagga, Surinder Kaur Toor, Joga Singh Sadhra and Manager Manmeet Singh were present on the occasion. Ashlyn Lekha said that she saw children living in slums and the desire to do something for them inspired her to write.
That is why she released her first book "Sixteen Stories" in Australia. I am dedicating the money received from the book to social work, development of my native village and organizations like UNICEF. Lekha told that her next book is about Australian girls. Ashlyn Lekha and Amarjit Singh Lekha were honored by the organization. The officials of the organization presented their views and wished Ashlyn Lekha a bright future.
