Garhshankar 13 March- Monthly meeting of Punjab Pensioners Welfare Association Zone Garhshankar held: Today on 12/03/2025 the monthly meeting of the Association Zone Garhshankar was held at Gandhi Park Banga Chowk Garhshankar under the chairmanship of Shri Sarup Chand Zonal President. In the meeting, information was shared about the upcoming elections of Punjab Pensioners State Confederation to be held on 17/03/2025 at Ludhiana.
The speakers reviewed the protests and massive rallies conducted by the pensioners and employees against the Punjab Government during the last three years and appreciated the contribution made by the pensioners. The Punjab Government by issuing the notification dated 18/02/2025 has come up with a clever and cunning way of distributing the arrears of the pensioners as per their age and giving them in installments, which was strongly condemned.
The dirty trick of the government to divide the pensioners among themselves will never work. The government should pay the arrears to the senior pensioners in one lump sum. The pensioners stressed on their main demands, which include revision of pension as per the multiplier of 2.59 suggested by the Pay Commission, increase in medical allowance up to Rs. 2000 and revision and reimplementation of cashless medical scheme etc.
In the end, the speakers appealed to the pensioner comrades to be ready for the next struggles. Today's meeting was addressed by Shri Sarup Chand, Balwant Ram, Ramji Das Chauhan, Nazar Ram Maan, Parmanand and Dalveer Singh ji. Apart from these, comrades Roop Lal, Major Singh, Ratan Singh, Shingara Ram, Gopal Das, Mehanag Ram and Avtaar Singh etc also participated in the meeting.
