Andhra Pradesh: 4.2 kg gold worth Rs 3 crore seized

Nellore- A total of 4.2 kg gold worth Rs 3.38 crore has been seized from the Venkatachalam toll plaza in Nellore district, suspected to have been smuggled. Police officials said that the gold was being illegally transported from Chennai to a trader in Nellore without documents. Police said that they were keeping a close watch on the suspects and a team of Venkatachalam toll plaza officials was deployed.

During this, they caught the accused while carrying 4.2 kg gold ornaments. He had brought the gold from Chennai to Nellore jewellery shops for hallmarking and was taking it back without proper documents. According to the police, three persons Harsh Jain, Anna Ram and Ranjit Kumar have been arrested in this case. The police said that since the case is related to GST violation, the seized gold and persons have been handed over to the GST officials.
