Newly appointed Panchs and Sarpanchs were made aware of departmental schemes during training

Balachaur- Today, during the training of newly appointed Panchs and Sarpanchs, Supervisor Anjali from Child Development Project Officer Office Balachaur gave detailed training about departmental schemes. During the training, Child Development Project Officer Balachaur Puran Pankaj Sharma informed the Panchayat members present about Women Helpline 181 and Child Marriage Prevention Act 2006.

Balachaur- Today, during the training of newly appointed Panchs and Sarpanchs, Supervisor Anjali from Child Development Project Officer Office Balachaur gave detailed training about departmental schemes. During the training, Child Development Project Officer Balachaur Puran Pankaj Sharma informed the Panchayat members present about Women Helpline 181 and Child Marriage Prevention Act 2006.
He said that child marriage is a social evil. To prevent this, under the above Act, the minimum age of a girl for marriage has been fixed at 18 years and that of a boy at 21 years and there is a provision of legal penalty and strict punishment for marrying below this age.
On this occasion, other provisions under the Act were also discussed and it was told that under the Act, all Child Development Project Officers and Principals of all Government Senior Secondary Schools have been nominated as Child Marriage Prohibition Officers by the Punjab Government.
On this occasion, he appealed to the Panchayats present that they should discuss the provisions of this Act with the general public during Panchayat meetings and general assemblies in the villages and if any case related to child marriage comes to their notice, they should inform immediately so that timely action can be taken. On this occasion, Manjit Singh, Sukhraj Singh and all the Panchayat members of SIRD were present.
