Garhshankar- The monthly meeting of Doaba Sahitya Sabha Registered Garhshankar was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Sabha, Dr. Bikkar Singh Principal, at the Sabha office, Major Singh Mauji Memorial Library, Gandhi Park Garhshankar. Releasing the proceedings of the meeting to the press, the General Secretary of the Sabha, Mr. Pawan Kumar Bhamian, said that at the beginning of the meeting, a two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the deceased member of the Sabha, writer Om Prakash Sahuji.
After discussing the annual function of the Sabha in the meeting, it was decided that the annual function of the Sabha will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025. The commemorative awards to be given by the Sabha were unanimously passed. It was decided to give the Major Singh Mauji Memorial Award to be given by the Sabha to the eminent writer and General Secretary of the Central Punjabi Writers' Sabha (Sekhon) Prof. Sandhu Varyanvi.
It was decided to give the Principal Sujan Singh Memorial Award to the eminent fiction writer Prof. Balbir Kaur Riehl ji, the Ustad Ulfat Bajwa Memorial Award to Mr. Satpal Sahlon ji and the special honor given to the senior member of the Sabha and writer Tara Singh Cheda ji, among the members of the Sabha.
The Language Department Punjab expressed its happiness at giving the Principal Teja Singh Award in the category of the best edited book to the member of the Sabha Prof. JB Sekhon and it was decided to honor him during the function. For the success of the function, all the members of the Sabha present gave very constructive suggestions and participated enthusiastically in the proceedings.
After the discussion, today's Kavi Darbar was held under the chairmanship of Amrik Hamraj ji. In which the general secretary of the Sabha, Pawan Kumar Bhamian, along with Santokh Veer Ji, Amrik Hamraj, Ranvir Babbar, Balvir Khanpuri, Sarwan Sidhu, Mukesh Gujarati, Numbardar Joga Singh Bhamian and Tarsem Bhamian presented their works and views attacking the deteriorating economy and political and social evils.
