SAS Nagar, April 26: After Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar became a part of PME-Bus Sewa Yojana, DC Komal Mittal held a meeting with the stakeholder departments to finalize the route plan.
He said that about 100 buses will be operated on 08 routes with a distance of 17 to 32 km and the frequency of each route will be 15 minutes, i.e. a bus will be available after every 15 minutes.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, has issued amendments in the guidelines of PME-Bus Sewa Yojana on 15.04.2025 and as per the amended guidelines, SAS Nagar has now become eligible to get 100 electric buses under the cluster category.
He said that to facilitate vehicular mobility on local roads by linking it with public transport and to avail the benefits of this scheme, various stakeholders like Municipal Councils, GMADA, Municipal Corporation Mohali and Transport Departments have been asked to send proposals to the Ministry in a timely manner. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Corporation Parminder Pal Singh, ADC (UD) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, GMADA and representatives of local RTO offices besides EO Zirakpur, Kharar, Lalru, Banur, Nayagaon.
