A comprehensive campaign should be launched to make the youth aware of the ill-effects of drug abuse- Ankurjit Singh

5 March Nawanshahr- Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinderjit Singh along with his entire team today accorded a warm welcome to Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh by presenting him a bouquet at the Deputy Commissioner's Office Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinderjit Singh gave a detailed briefing to Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh about the progress of various national and state health programmes including the effective implementation of OAT programme for the treatment and management of drug addicts in the district.

On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinderjit Singh gave a detailed briefing to Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh about the progress of various national and state health programmes including the effective implementation of OAT programme for the treatment and management of drug addicts in the district.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner during a special meeting with Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinderjit Singh, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr Harpreet Singh, Senior Medical Officer of District Hospital Nawanshahr Dr Satwinderpal Singh and other health officials stressed the need for joint efforts to successfully complete the multi-pronged 'War on Drugs' campaign launched by the Punjab Government.
He directed to regularly inspect all de-addiction centres and OAT centres in the district. He said that these centres should be equipped with adequate manpower (including psychiatrists and counsellors etc.) and testing kits, medicines, security (security staff/CCTV), cleanliness and other infrastructure.
He also said that it should be ensured that treatment services are provided at every level to patients suffering from drug addiction. He further said that a comprehensive campaign should be launched in villages and cities to make the youth aware about the ill effects of drug addiction so that the coming generation does not fall prey to drug addiction.
He said that continuous inspection of medicine shops should also be ensured. Deputy Commissioner S. Ankurjit Singh assured Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinderjit Singh that the district administration will give full cooperation to the District Health Department to provide better health facilities to the common people.
During this, Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinderjit Singh assured the Deputy Commissioner that he would ensure that better and quality health facilities being provided by the Health Department reach all the citizens of the district and the targets given in respect of all national and state health programs are completed within the stipulated time frame.
