Posters were released by the Civil Surgeon and health officials on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, the Civil Surgeon said that according to the World Health Organization, the biggest cause of hearing loss in the whole world today is listening to loud music for a long time and today 60 percent of the youth of the world are affected by this disease.
He said that the use of oil or sharp objects/matchsticks/budis to clean the ears should be avoided. Newborn children should be fully vaccinated and ear problems should not be ignored. He said that it is important for every elderly person to get their ears checked after the age of 60 years.
On this occasion, Senior Medical Officer Mata Kushliya Hospital Dr. Vikas Goyal, District Epidemiologist Dr. Sumit Singh, District Mass Media Officer Kulveer Kaur, District BCC Coordinator Jasbir Kaur, BEE Shayan Zafar, Bittu Kumar, nursing students and patients were also present.
