
Fine of Rs 3.36 crore collected from illegal miners in SAS Nagar district
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, December 18, 2024: Ensuring strict action against illegal mining activities in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district, a total of 14 FIRs have been registered during the current year, in addition to the recovery of fines of Rs. 3.36 crore during the last six months.

Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Ashika Jain said that as part of the state government's commitment to not allow illegal mining in the state, the progress of the District Drainage-cum-Mining and Geology Division SAS Nagar was reviewed today. She said that by intensifying the action against illegal mining, around 76 vehicles have been challaned and seized. A fine of Rs. 275.5 lakh has been collected from the violators.
Similarly, a fine of Rs. 37,58,188 has been collected by taking strict action against those mining from illegal places. Apart from this, a penalty fee of Rs. 18,29,874 has been collected from stone crushers violating the Mining and Geology Policy. He said that the district has received a permit fee revenue of Rs. 1,70,65,456 under Permit K-1, K-2 and BKO etc.
He said that the Mining and Geology officers have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the Mining Policy and no one who violates the rules should be spared.
