Una, February 28 - Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal, while presiding over the meeting of the District Level Road Safety Committee on Friday, directed to strictly implement road safety laws in the district. He asked to deal strictly with those driving over speed and carelessly in the district so that accidents can be controlled.

Jatin Lal asked to work with an integrated approach to make the roads safe, encroachment free and traffic risk free in the district. He directed the concerned departments to take pre-corrective steps and ensure strict compliance of traffic rules to reduce accidents.
Instructions to organize awareness camps on road safety rules in schools
The Deputy Commissioner directed all the SDMs of the district to organize awareness camps on road safety rules in the schools under their jurisdiction every week so that more and more people can become aware about road safety rules. Also, asked to send the report of the awareness camps to be organized to the Deputy Commissioner's office. He asked the officials of NH department and PWD to install sign boards near Ajoli flyover on the road coming from Punjab to Una so that people can reach their destination easily. Along with this, he also instructed to install speed breakers and other safety sign boards near the schools located on the roadside in the district.
Instructions to improve black spots
The Deputy Commissioner instructed all the sub-divisional magistrates to identify accident prone spots and black spots in their jurisdiction and improve them. He said that for road safety, CCTV cameras and crash barriers, parapets, light reflectors and speed breakers should be installed as per requirement at accident prone spots. He asked the officials to bring the report of improvement works in the next meeting.
Conductors should be mandatory in school vehicles
Jatin Lal asked to ensure fitness of school vehicles and compliance of traffic rules by drivers. He also instructed to ensure that every school vehicle has a conductor. Take strict action against those who disregard this. He asked all the SDMs to hold meetings with the private school operators in their areas to ensure this arrangement.
On this occasion, SDM Haroli Vishal Sharma, SDM Amb Sachin Sharma, SDM Bangana Sonu Goyal, RTO Una Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director Elementary Education Som Lal Dhiman, DSP Una Ajay Thakur, along with officers from various departments were present.
