21 February Nawanshahr- Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Victims Nawanshahr organised an anti-drug awareness camp under "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" at Government Senior Secondary School Kariyam (SBS Nagar). This camp was presided over by Mr. Navneet Parashar (Executive Principal).
S. Chaman Singh (Project Director) informed the students and staff members of the school about the establishment of Red Cross and the social welfare work being done by Red Cross. He said that in today's time, youth are getting addicted to drugs at a young age while studying in school. Youth start with bidi, cigarette and get addicted to bigger drugs like heroin.
Due to which it becomes very difficult for them to give up drugs later, due to which the affected youth become physically and mentally ill. While motivating the school students to stay away from drugs, he said that you do not have to stay away from drugs on the advice of any unknown person, because young students do not know what harm drugs can cause.
So to achieve your goal, you have to stay away from drugs. He said that along with school studies, you should also read literature books, so that we will remain connected to the Punjabi mother tongue and should read the biographies of our Gurus, Pirs, martyrs, warriors. He appealed to the students to join the Drug Free India campaign and start this campaign from your home, along with this, you should also make your family members aware about the ill effects of drugs.
Because to remove any evil, we have to start from our home. He also appealed to the school teachers that along with school education, it is also important to give information about drugs to the students. So that only by making the students aware about drugs, they can be kept away from drugs. Mrs. Kamaljit Kaur (Counselor) also shared detailed information about the treatment of patients at Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Victims, Nawanshahr.
She informed that any drug addict can stay in the hospital for one month as per his wish and get free treatment. Drug addiction can never be cured by staying at home. It is a mental and physical disease which needs to be treated. On this occasion, Mr. Navneet Parashar (Principal) also expressed his views about the ill effects of drug addiction and thanked the Red Cross team.
On this occasion, Parveen Kumar (Campus Manager) gave his views to the students and appealed that the suggestions given by the Red Cross team should be implemented in their lives. School staff members Raman Rani, Paramjit Kaur, Navita Kumari, Kesho Devi, Anuradha Verma and school students were present on this occasion.
