Punjab Sahitya Sabha Regd. Nawanshahr submitted a memorandum to the government through the Deputy Commissioner for the promotion of Punjabi language.

21 February Nawanshahr- Today on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, Punjab Sahitya Sabha Regd. Nawanshahr, under the leadership of Punjab Sahitya Sabha Regd. Nawanshahr President Darshan Dardi and Central Punjabi Writers Association District President Des Raj Bali, submitted a memorandum to the Punjab Government through the Deputy Commissioner District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

21 February Nawanshahr- Today on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, Punjab Sahitya Sabha Regd. Nawanshahr, under the leadership of Punjab Sahitya Sabha Regd. Nawanshahr President Darshan Dardi and Central Punjabi Writers Association District President Des Raj Bali, submitted a memorandum to the Punjab Government through the Deputy Commissioner District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
In these demands, attention has been paid to aspects such as including Punjabi as a language of employment in the state, using Punjabi in courts, providing assistance to financially weak writers and issuing grants to literary societies in rural areas.
In this regard, the organization's President Darshan Dardi and General Secretary Tarsem Saqi said that these issues have been raised prominently many times before and demand letters have been sent through registered leaders and administrative officials, but no proper action has ever been taken. Other demands registered by the organization include publishing district level joint books of writers, setting up libraries in rural areas, correcting the spelling of Punjabi words on signboards on connecting roads, taking necessary action against children speaking Punjabi in private schools and providing free bus travel facility to writers like Haryana government.
On this occasion, organization's president Darshan Dardi, general secretary Tarsem Saki, chairman Manmohan Singh Gulati, state affairs secretary Bali, advisor Bahadur Chand Arora, press secretary Vasdev Pardesi etc were present.
